IH Cairo provides Modern Standard Arabic (MSA), which is the written language of Arabic. MSA or ‘Fus’ha’ is used in academia and formal media such as newspapers, meaning that as students’ progress they develop the ability to follow Middle Eastern current affairs and read Arabic Literature.
Due to its widespread use in media and music, Egyptian Colloquial Arabic (ECA) or (Aameya) is the most commonly understood dialect of Arabic in the Middle East. It provides students with skills to interact with the spoken form of the Arabic language used in Egypt
IH Cairo offers a combined course that covers both the MSA and ECA content. This programme enables students to gain more rounded exposure to the language and culture. Activities are directed toward developing the skills and strategies necessary for the effective reading, listening and discussing of authentic materials.
Survival Egyptian Arabic course is designed for learners who do not have a long time to study the language and need to survive and be able to communicate using the Arabic Language. The Survival Egyptian Arabic (SEA) course will enable you to do so with the selective language functions that are presented.
This course helps the students to master the core vocabulary and structure of the printed and internet news media. It enables the students to read extended authentic texts. We teach many topics related to Arab media such as Elections, Conflicts and terrorism, Meeting and conferences, demonstrations &Business and finance
The aim of these classes is to reduce the student-to-teacher ratio for more individualized learning while still adhering to the learning programme as set out in our general curriculum for both ECA and MSA.
